No need to wonder why we have zero economic power and zero political power. We do however possess social power (!). Read the snipet below or read original article. Financial Literacy 101: Save, Invest, Spend, Donate. Spend is 3rd !! African Americans Remain at Economic Bottom
According to a report released Tuesday by the U. S. Census Bureau, the median household incomes for Black families remained last year at $32,000,… the same as it was in 2005. That’s $5,800 less than Hispanic families…and $20,400 less than White families. Poverty rates in 2006 were no better for African-Americans. While the poverty rate remained unchanged… for Blacks at 24.3 percent. Poverty rates for Blacks in 2006 were 3.7 percent higher than Hispanic-Americans and 16.1 percent higher than Anglo-Americans.
The annual report, based on compilations of 2006 data is called “Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2006.” Economists say it’s America as usual.

A Message for Muslims in the West

When you wish to live peacefully in this country, and have an opportunity to present Islam to the host community, you will need to influence and manifest qualities not just inside the masjids, but also outside in the streets, in the markets, in daily activities, and at home. Lives of taqwah (piety) will immediately attract non-Muslims towards Islam. When we do not live an upright life, if we continue to live an insular lifestyle, or when we fail to manifest the beauty of Islam to non-Muslims, then we face real dangers. When or if the fire of race, religion or nationalism rages here, then we will not be saved.
Islamic Spain had masjids a hundred times more beautiful than ours, however when the flames of religious sectarianism raged, then the masjids and madrasahs became deserted. Regrettably the Muslims did not invite the native non-Muslims of Spain to see the Truth of Islam, to warn them of the dangers of disbelief, with the result that religious violence subsequently consumed.
We are still earning our place in this country. We must leave an imprint on the host community of our usefulness. We must continue to demonstrate our existence here is beneficial. We must impart to them the lessons of humanity. We should demonstrate how noble and principled we are, and that there cannot be found more upright humans elsewhere besides you. We are to continue our struggle to establish our worth for Allah, Prophet Muhammed (SAW), and ourselves.
Remember we are guests here. We should attain mastery of Arabic and our national language and become proficient so that we can effectively propagate Al Islam. We must prepare writers and orators who can communicate effectively. While we distance ourselves from their religion, do not distance yourself from them.
African American Muslims, we must present a new pattern of life in this country beyond material gain. When we can 1) show our fellow citizens that we are worshippers of Allah and not wealth, 2) we do not bow before power but only before virtue, 3) we are compassionate humans concerned about our children AND the path of destruction non-believers have chosen for their children, we will then earn their respect.
Please strengthen your position in this country and earn your recognition. Display such noble character that you enslave the natives, then see how these people will stand to defend you.
May Almighty Allah grant us the ability to understand what is right; may He bless and protect us. Ameen.

No nation or community…

No nation or community can know happiness unless and until it is truly united from within; and no nation or community can be truly united from within unless it achieves a large degree of unanimity (unity) as to what is right and what is wrong in the affairs of men; and no such unanimity is possible unless the nation or community agrees on a moral obligation arising from a permanent, absolute moral law.

Turkey’s fresh look at Prophet nears end
Turkish authorities are undergoing a 3 year project to reinterpret our Prophet’s hadith. “The main idea is to make the hadith more understandable by today’s people with a new interpretation…” Mehmet Gormez, deputy director of the Diyanet, Turkey’s state body for religious affairs.
Indeed. I’m personally outraged.

TX Legislature

Members of the Texas Legislature vote for members who are not physically present. Uhmmm. Watch it for yourself.
- This is against their own rules!
- Hypocrites. You want TX voters to show ID, however, it doesn’t appear members of the TX Legislature need to be present to vote on how our tax money is spent. God is watching us.
- Cesspools such as the TX Legislature need to be dumped (literally) and re-stocked.

On the day they meet their Lord, they shall be welcomed by the salutation “Peace!” An illustrious reward has been prepared for them. O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bearer of good tidings and also to warn humankind and to invite them to Allah by His leave and guide them like the beacon that spreads light. Give the believers good tidings that a great bounty awaits them. Al-Ahzab 33:44-47

GITMO Concentration Camps – Part II

The Senate refused to consider an amendment to give military detainees the right to protest their detention in federal court.
Why aren’t more Muslims in this country outraged? Could it be they are comfortable and complacent?
Read it and weep. Ramadan Mubarak.
